TwinSAFE, the Beckhoff safety technology, offers a safety protocol for EtherCAT that enables safety-related and control communication in the same network. The TwinSAFE technology is integrated directly in the EtherCAT Terminal system or in the AX5000 EtherCAT drives.
The TwinSAFE terminals for the EtherCAT I/O system exploit the high performance of EtherCAT to the optimum: Up to 128 safety-relevant bus devices can be connected to the EL6900 Safety PLC. The safety PLC features 256 integrated function blocks that can be configured or programmed depending on the application.
